Dear friends:
A warning from someone who did not listen:
If you are planning to upgrade from KDE 2.0 or 2.01 to KDE 2.1, do NOT
do so at this time. WAIT till March 26, when the final official KDE
2.1.1 with all the bug fixes is released.
I had the misfortune to find out that one bug alone ruined my entire
Internet experience, namely, KDE 2.1 does NOT allow more than ONE
instance of Netscape at a time. If you change URL's or open any other
instance of Netscape (or Mozilla, I think), you will see the original
instance disappear. You are limited to one and only one instance.
I read this warning from someone on our list but I did not heed it. And,
after 45 minutes of downloading and installing KDE 2.1 (the installation
itself went perfectly using MandrakeUpdate), I discovered to my dismay
that the man was absolutely right. I had no choice but to reinstall my
entire LM7.2 from scratch.
And before upgrading on March 26, make sure that KDE has actually fixed
this bug. If they have, please kindly inform the list so that we can
safely upgrade to KDE 2.1.
Yours,
Benjamin
