[expert] LDAP

I'm trying to learn LDAP, so I can implement things like roaming 
profiles, etc.  When I run ldapadd, I get the following error:
ldap_add:  no such object

I've looked at various resources online, but cannot find the possible 
cause or solution.  Any pointers?  Thanks in advance,
