I used to be able to fire up one of those programs, like DrakConf, and it would
indicate that i
needed to be root to run it, and would i please enter the root password. When i did,
it would open
up DrakConf. Then i ran /usr/share/msec/security.sh and "tightened down the system" a
bit. One of
the things i did was minimized the number of users that could run suid programs and/or
minimized
the number of suid programs that users could run. Now i can't start DrakConf from KDE
in the same
way anymore. The "ksu" program won't ask me to enter the root password, and that's
because my user
account no longer has permission to run that particular suid program. And so DrakConf
doesn't have
a hope of starting.

So i do what i just mentioned in my last message to you, i fire up a konsole and run
it as root
from the command line. I just haven't gotten around to giving myself permission to run
the "ksu"
program. (I put it in quotes b/c i don't actually know what it is called or what
package it is
part of. Like i said, i havne't gotten around to working on this one yet.)

Cheers,
j
