When I installed LM 7.2, my sound was not working. But I did not care too
much; I wanted to set up the things that really would allow me to work.
I set up my HPOfficeJet G85 using CUPS, I have been configuring XPP and also
SAMBA in order to have my printer available to my other W2000 laptop.

I was quite happy.

Then, I decided that it was time to set up the sound. I went to a Console
(Ctrl-Alt-F1) and, using SndConfig, everything was working (in console
mode...). Coming back to the KDE environment I discovered that the sound do
not actually work (but this is the topic of another mail...) BUT THAT I LOST
MY PRINTER.

At the beginning, the printer was NOT recognized by KUPS, even in line-mode
I got strange errors saying "lpr: unable to print file: The requested
resource is currently unavailbale on this server". Using PrinterDrake, the
screen was looking in the CUPS db for a few seconds and, after, disappeared
without any reason.

I overwrote the printcap file using an old backup I had. At this point, I
can see the printer in KUPS, my printerDrake does not die suddenly... BUT I
STILL CANNOT PRINT. No error, nothing. Simply nothing outside of the printer
tray. (I tried to cat > /dev/lp0 and, obviously, this work)

Anyone could help me in debugging the problem? I think that the best thing
would be to verify the required pieces of infos one after the other, but I
am not an expert in this area.

Could someone please help me having back my printer without re-installing LM
7.2 ?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Best regards
