Yeah - it's above and beyond me!  On a vmware trial, it seems as though the 
install is trying to load modules for vfat,  ide-cdrom etc....  

Have you tried the old :-
maybe<ctrl> even!       <alt><F2> for bash sysinfo
                        <alt><F3> for your installation message log
                        <alt><F4> for kernel messages
