After some very interesting comments from this list, this is the best solution I have found: Textex Xtexshell (a frontend to combine text-editors, latex and xdiv) Nedit (good text editor, activating latex language the differents commands, text-types, .... are showed in different colors or shapes; very good for latex!) This is until now the best combination under linux I have found; nedit is not winedt, but is so much better than most of the general linux text-editor. Francisco Alcaraz Murcia (Spain)
