Sorry, I don't have any suggestions to offer. I've taken the liberty of
posting this back to the list in the hopes that someone else can help.
The fact that (in Windows) it thinks you are still connected when you go
to reconnect suggests that possibly you may be using the wrong driver
(in Windows), although I've usually had success using a "generic" modem
with the AT command set for any modem I've tried (not that many,
though).
