Suppose the CDRW is /dev/hdb
then, edit lilo.conf and under "image=/boot/vmlinuz" you must add the option
append=" hdb=ide-scsi"
Then run lilo and reboot.
For more info about editing lilo.conf type "man lilo.conf".
