[expert] NIC troubles

I'm having some issues with the built-in NIC in my Toshiba Satellite 
2805-S402 laptop.  Everything seems fine on boot, but I start getting 
eepro100: wait_for_cmd timeout! errors after a couple minutes.  If I 
restart networking, I can get about another minute or so out of it 
before I get the errors again.

Anybody have any ideas?
