I'm using MDK 8, 2.4.3, no updates, and ProFTPD on 2 different
machines. Both are connected via a 10baseT hub. When I connect to the
ftp server of either machine, from either a win or linux client, I get a
delay of up to 30 seconds before the connection is made. Then, after
password/username exchange, I get a delay between each file. The actual
data transfer takes place at the expected speed for a 10mb/s link.
ProFTP is started at the command line in each case, I don't want an
always on FTP server, but will tolerate it if it solves this problem.
I recall having this problem before, with wu-ftpd, but don't remember
how I solved it. Reading /etc/proftpd.conf didn't give any insight.
