Yes, it does use a proxy.pac URL.  I have tried putting in manual proxy 
settings, and it seems to work OK now.

This version of vmware is supposed to support Mandrake 8 and the 2.4 kernel. 
  But is that 2.4.3 only?
Is there a problem with the 2.4.5 that comes with FREQ?
