Wow, there is a major problem with the Kernel upgrade for Mandrake 7.1 at least, if not 7.x.
Aside from the missing files in the source to be able to compile a new kernel, communication to my IDE drives seems to crash the kernel totally. For example, I have a script that uses mirrordir to sync two drives: hda6 and hdc6, both primary drives on each separate IDE bus. With 2.2.19-2mdk (stock kernel, btw), it sometimes gives me seek complete errors when mounting, but it keeps going. After a while however, the thing takes a dump, shows the registers and stack, and it's toast. I've tried different HDs, different motherboards, different everything... same problem. Using the 2.2.15-4mdk kernel, everything works perfectly. Looks like once again, this security upgrade is not ready for prime time. Bob
