for kernel/ kernel modules compiling I use gcc-2.96 from mdk distro with no problems, but first after installing of kernel sources you have to do a "make mrproper" once!!! It's a packaging bug of mandrake. ;-) And with gcc-3.02 I can normally compile all other programs but the kernel, when not, i use gcc-2.96. No problem... I use MDK 8.1 with some cooker stuff.
