The middle button pastes what you copy to clipboard with highlighting--with 3 button emulation (standardly supplied with two button mouse drivers) you achieve this by clicking right and left buttons with some semblance of simultaneity. The Middle button means to most browsers when you middle-click a hyperlink to "open in a new window". The wheel just scrolls something which is default equipped with a scrollbar. Some folks think it is useful, but I am not one of them. My favorite mouse is an optical which has a wheel which I would have disabled to a normal middle button except my Belkin Omnicube seems to have accomplished that task without my inttervention. My favorite pointer is a two-button Logitech optical trackball which has no scrolling features but doesn't seem to have sufficient signal strength to work through the Omnicube. Civileme
