Some boards with the i810 chipset have a few problems, i think this includes a series of dell laptops also. The problems are with the onboard graphics, some machines cant use the fbdev based install, and some hang when changing modes in X, i.e when testing resolution settings. There is now a modified install routine specifically for this chipset i believe. I must say that is a very lucky install. Some people have had no end of trouble with mdk 8.1 (and possibly 8.0, i forget) on the i810 boards. When mdk 8.2/9 comes out, you should try the new installer and see if it doesnt cause any unforseen problems with that board. For more info on this i would recomend you talk to some of the guys on the cooker list.
