In a Slashdot discussion about 8.2 yesterday, a suggestion was made that Mandrake ship 8.2 with KDE 2.2 as the default and include 3.0 as an option. I kind of like that idea. I don't think that using beta software as the default desktop in a distribution is a good idea; there is enough traffic on these lists already. Mandrake has gained the reputation as being both newbie-friendly and somewhat cutting edge -- that's a delicate balance, and one that is easily broken. -- cmg
