IDE-to-SCSI emulation is not that big a deal. Mandrake sets it up
automagically. I've never had a problem.

The big benefit to SCSI is that doing other work on the system doesn't slow
it down and adversely affect the burn process. When I burn using my IDE
drive, I don't really do anything else until the task is completed; my buddy
with a SCSI burner continues to do whatever he is doing.
