Right, my main thing is to get a feel of Mandrake. By using the newest
beta i can get a feel of how the 8.2 final will be before buying it.
Makes complete sense about the update utility for beta's, Cooker is much
like RH's rawhide right? The current version of the distro as it is
worked on, from what I saw from the mandrake website. But once you get
to a final distro is rsync what they use for keeping things in sync?

Yeah, this whole college ethernet thing has spoiled me. Now when I go
home its like, "wow, I can't believe I used to use this!" But hey, they
use Solaris. :-)

p.s. Thanks for the kind and informative answers. On the Red Hat list
it seems whenever someone says, "I'm coming from such and such a
distribution..." they first bash that distro then say why RH is
*better*. Nice not to see that here.
