Maybe by posting the "wrong" answer we can get the right one. I've found the
following in my attempts to get drives driving.
You can't mix DMA tyes on the same IDE cable. My burner was DMA 2 my hard drive could
do DMA 5 and boy they didn't mix. Seperating them seemed to fix this.
Some of the older drives, even though they are supposed to be DMA 2 don't seem to work
correctly with the new hardware and the 80 wire cables. Most notably a Fujitsu 4 gig
that used to be my windows drive.
This is what seems to be happening for me at the moment..... now, to sit back and find
out if I blew it or not *grin*.
