If you are running a recent MDK release (8.x) check to see if an httpd
is listening on port 8080. MDK for performance reasons that don't
affect most users put mod_perl as part of a secondary httpd process
(statically linked) that listens in on port 8080 and is proxied as the
port 80's /perl directory if I remember correctly. The httpd process on
port 80 itself does not have mod_perl built in (module or static).
Also if I remember correctly, the mod_perl httpd uses
/etc/httpd/conf/httpd-perl.conf as a config file. All the details I
list are from old memory and may need to be verified as I don't run MDK
built Apache rpms (I have a custom set based on a RedHat style setup for
my needs).
Enjoy,
