As per this ATI link: http://www.ati.com/developer/linux.html this card is only supported by XFree86 crew. According to XFree86's site: http://www.xfree86.org/4.2.0/Status6.html#6 You may only get it to somewhat work with v4.2
ATI site states that driver for Radeon's is developmental still. Brian D. Klar - CVE OTS WPAFB -----Original Message----- From: Mike Rambo [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, May 06, 2002 3:11 PM To: Mandrake List Subject: [expert] mdk8.2 and radeon 7000 pci I have an IBM box (300PL) that has integrated S3 video. My son wants better video so I've obtained a 64MB Radeon 7000 PCI video card. I can't use an AGP card even though the machine has an AGP slot because of the way the case is built - one of those proprietary designs that only a few cards will properly fit. I was surprised to find that the hardware drake didn't detect any hardware changes when the box started up. I finally have the box booting to init 3. When I run XFdrake it finds both video cards now (new Radeon 7000 and the original integrated video) but I cannot find a configuration that'll work. I really only want the Radeon card set up so that's the one I select. It loaded XFree 4.20 the first time I selected the Radeon card but the system displays a scrambled screen and freezes when I try to test the configuration. I skipped the test one time and tried to 'startx' but that also displayed garbage and froze. Can anyone offer advice on how to get this to work? Thanks... -- Mike Rambo [EMAIL PROTECTED]
