About the 'annoying startup wizard':

Sometimes, well, just sometimes it may be useful to visit the Mandrake
Linux website:

http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/mdk-kde3.0.php3

There you find - besides installation advice - a section with 3 "Known
Problems" where your problem is one of them. Solution is provided.

If you'd describe this prob in the Mandrake newsgroup a.o.l.m. you may
read that this is a FAQ.
