Are you trying to have english kde with japanese input, or do you want all japanese? do you want for one user or all users? i ask because a friend and i were trying to get japanese input set up with 8.2 when it first came out and it was pure hell. the goal was one user all in japanese and another with english and japanese input. we never got it working. have you tried localedrake? -- iirc, we set it for japanese and then he edited the resulting i18n file (in /etc/sysconfig ?) to change most everything back to english, but leaving the xinput and one or two other variables to jp. I'll see if i can get his .i18n file, and post it. as for kde, i think he had to change some font settings in the control center in order for it to start properly (running the cc from a different window manager, i assume). on the bright side, at least mandrake's ghostscript can finally handle japanese. -- Chris Spackman
