I just used "test.wav" because I don't want to try to use ogg until I have actually got this thing to work. Sox just sits there, not complaining, but not producing an output file either :-( This pretty much matches my experience of a few months ago. At that time I tried a bunch of different programs that were supposed to be able to record sound. They produced either nothing at all or an empty file. But I can hear sound from realplayer, mp3s, CDs, etc. just fine. Any advice as to where to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated. FWIW, kmix says that the device is "ICE1232". It would be especially helpful if someone else has succeeded in getting this device to record sound.
