Finally! A definite answer to my questions! Thanks Balaji. I'll recompile and try it immediately and let you know offline. Two remarks however: (i) as I've already stated, Mdk is supposed to have their KDE stuff already compiled this way so I'm not hopeful. (ii) In my week of searching for answers kwin and kicker have also been mentioned in random places as needing to be xinerama enabled. But no one, _no one_! ever goes into specifics of the full set of things that need to be recompiled. Any comments on kwin and the panel? Dean
