I have never heard of what you're looking for under Linux, but that
doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. But it might not. Instead of
abstracting the filesystem layer to look like a db, why not just bite
the bullet and put the data in a good database and access it with sql
commands? Almost everything has hooks for db access nowadays.
