this thread is losing it's way:-) the file system is vfat, the camera is seen in winxp as a removable drive that automounts/unmounts when i unplug it - no special drivers/software necessary, in linux i can mount it pefectly at the cli using vfat, /dev/sdb1 and my chosen mount point, it's fine - i can transfer pics and mp3s, i would like however, to have it automagically (u)mount when it is (un)plugged, just like in xp.
messing with hotplug and/or supermount was - i assumed - the way to go but it's not working, i think i'll call it a day, and wait and see if 9.0 will do this if i choose to upgrade:-) bascule On Monday 07 October 2002 12:37 pm, you wrote: > Why not just dd the filesystem and hex edit it to see what it realy is? > heh, perhaps camera companys might even be using ext3 > > assuming setting the fs as auto did not get it working? > > > JG > > Wolfgang Bornath wrote: > > On Sun, Oct 06, 2002 at 19:26 +0100, bascule wrote: > >>unfortunately this isn't doing it for me:-) > >>replacing floppy with camera and fd0 with sdb1 gives me 'wrong file > >> system or too many mounted file systems' error > >> > >>reverting to the original fstab and running #supemount -i enable rewrites > -- 'Never trust a ruler who puts his faith in tunnels and bunkers and escape routes.
