Well I did:

urpmi.update update_source

and got a lot of good stuff from praxad.fr, but no fix:

[root@small ron]# urpmi samba-server
unable to access medium "Installation CD (disk1)"
Installation failed, some files are missing.
You may want to update your urpmi database
[root@small ron]#

so I:

urpmi.update Installaltion CD

[root@small ron]# urpmi.update Installation CD
unable to access medium "Installation CD (disk1)"
examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.update_source.cz]
[root@small ron]#

So I assumed it now was up to date:

[root@small ron]# urpmi samba-server
unable to access medium "Installation CD (disk1)"
Installation failed, some files are missing.
You may want to update your urpmi database
[root@small ron]#

There's a Pooh implementer (of very little brain) somewhere.
This was an hd install, not a CD install.

???
