Hi!
My english is not very good.
I apologize if my expression "cool tool" was out of place. Next time I will
say "a good tool used in the apropiate way ".
The reaction remind me when I was at the university in classes and a teacher
didn't like my forms or expression. I could wait that from my teacher. So...
it's ok. It's part of the game...
I'm not a very large network administrator. I just maintain a small network
at a research institute where we make some scientific computation (I'm
working in my PhD so being a system manager of a 40-machine-cluster is not my
primary activity, all I learn was reading some rfc and linux-docs and
searching the web and the mailing lists... ).
I don't have all the tools needed to test " my private network" so when I
heard about this soft "bing" I was happy. Not big deal. I could make almost
the same measure of speed moving a big file between to machines with ftp....
but that's ugly. And I couldn't search for problems in this small network
with that.
For my needs ( I thinks that Alan use it in the same way) it's a good tool
that I didn't know.
Certainly when I have some problems to connect to internet (speed issues) I
check my firewall... and then consult the sys manager from the net I'm
connected ( the campus system manager).
I hope all this discussion be useful to that guys that are looking for info in
this issues on this mailing lists... like me.
