Just one more thing:    You can also set up an IMAP server for emails, if
your school does that; I suggest Cyrus 2.1.  "Roaming Profiles" can be
achieved by having the "/home" directory on them mapped to the server.
(Map it in the /etc/fstab using smbfs).  If you go the full Linux route,
you can still use smbfs and samba, or you can use Coda
(coda.cs.cmu.edu), which is an advanced network file system, meaning
that there is also more than sufficient support for your laptops as
well.  It also supports a bunch of other stuff; Well worth it if you
intend to do this during the summer holidays :)
