I'm not sure that XP/2000 meed this (they might though, I think the boot loader needs to be on C:), but I don't think it would hurt. Windows 9x needs to be on the C: drive so if windows is on the second drive(hdb or D: if you prefer) or up, you need to map it down to the C: drive.
