I've seen "quickstarts" of many kinds in Windoze, but out of curiosity: How much resources does a "quickstart" consume? Doesn't it preload parts of the application therefore unnecessarily using up resources? Why not just start it from an icon?
With RAM so cheap and sop plenty, I don't think that should be a problem. Why do people still want to go back to Windows?? One of the reasons being, good User Interface principles............Hourglass cursor when a program is loading, quick Browser opening, quick spreadsheet opening...etc....

Linux is known to be fast, but, applications like Mozilla, Open Office put shame on it's great reputation. I am sure this must not be anyone's intention and there must be ways to tackle this. One of them being loading portions of software during login or startup.

Hi,

Does anybody know of Mozilla quickstart in Linux. Or there is no such thing !!!
Well, this feature is there in M$ Windows and not in Linux !!!! I thought it is an Open Source project originating in the Open Source World, so shouldn't it be having good killer features in Linux atleast !

Especially when, the main place Linux is lacking good speed is the web browsing experience with the big lizard 'Mozilla' and Office Suite like Open Office or KOffice (all of them damn slow !!!)

Quote of the day:

Failure is the foundation of truth. It teaches us what isn't true, and that is a great beginning. To fear failure is to fear the possibility of truth.
