Below is a result of /usr/sbin/lsof|grep dev (I have /dev/scd0 mounted on /mnt/burner). There is no line about /dev/scd0 there.
If you have a file open on the cdrom then try:
/usr/sbin/lsof -V /mnt/cdrom2
On my system I get a:
[root@sword lsword]# /usr/sbin/lsof -V /mnt/cdrom2
COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE NODE NAME
gs 4503 lsword 4r REG 0,10 647252 232542 /mnt/cdrom2/pdf/593-man.pdf
