A friend of mine, using the same cable internet provider as myself(and mdk9)
is trying to get connected. I had no problem. I've been trying to set up
his machine and have had no luck. It loads the module for eth0 and you can
easily do a /sbin/ifup eth0 and it won't produce any errors. It uses dhcpcd
and it assigns it an ip address with no problem. Unfortunately, you can't
ping the gateway or anything on the internet. When you do a route, it list
the gateway as an IP, on my working machine it has it's name resolved. When
you try to traceroute to the gateway, it'll say "traceroute: sendto:
Operation not permitted" he has msec set to "Standard", I've shut down
shorewall and did a iptables -F to get rid of all possible firewall blockage.
If you need any info, please ask. I've been stumped for a couple of days.
Any ideas?

Jim
