Praedor- I had that problem too. Editing the prefs never solved it. What did, 
as I recall, was that you right-click remove the panel icon for the konsole, 
and then create a new one by left-click dragging a terminal icon to the panel 
from Kmenu-terminials-Konsole (the icon). Worked for me, permanently.
