I find Kwikdisk better (it sits in the systray) and you can activate KDF from it as well.

Nah! Just use kdf (Applications - Monitoring - KDiskFree) to do all your mounting and unmounting by just clicking on the right line. For KDE, leave the kdf window up all the time by giving it its own desktop called "Mount".
