Then use the KDE Control Center > System > Printer or printerdrake to remove your printer (software).

Then install it again as a new printer with the appropriate driver.

If you are using cups, you can also try as root:

service cups stop

then:

service cups start

My HP printer has both parallel and USB interfaces, so you can try using the other interface and install it as a new printer (all diffferent software).
