9.1 has much newer glibc and gcc, with everything rebuilt for
them. Since your 9.0 install probly has much more software than the
single 9.1b1 CD contains, you'd almost certainly end up with a
sh!+load of broken stuff, maybe the whole system. If you want to move
to 9.1, do a fresh install. IMO keeping /home completely intact is
often a problem too. I'd backup /home, do a complete fresh install,
then cautiously move some stuff back in. Usually moving in saved
mail, newsgroup, stuff like that is no problem.
I've been using 9.1 since cooker unfroze shortly after 9.0's
release. It's been solid all along ... on ReiserFS. From what I
understand 9.1b1 (due to the 2.4.21 kernel) lacks support for XFS
For stuff that's not on the 9.1.b1 CD you can use Software
Manager, tho urpmi on the CL is easier, to replace things not on the
9.1 CD from cooker mirrors. Also to keep your system in sync with
cooker upgrades. There's already been some (eg, XFree) since the beta
iso was released. So when b2 is posted, you'll already have or be
past it ;)
