Pradeor, Had a real PowderPoint file I edited and tried to save about 6 months ago, To get it to save I had to first save it in Star Office's format. Then close the file Open it and then I could save it as a power point, I don't know why it did this. I've never been able to repeat it. It just did. The only other thing I can think of is that SO is opened under user A and user B is the owner of the directory. (I've done this a number of times) SO doesn't give good error messages in this case and the results you are getting are the same as in the case I mentioned.
James PS someone mentioned trouble saving to an NFS partition. Linux doesn't (by default) write to NFS, because if you do try it. 50-50 chance of corruption.
