have plenty of drive space, and without compression, it's a lot easier to restore individual files.



2. Consider writeing your self a cron script that simply dumps the diretories into a file to ensure that they are all available.

not sure what you mean, this is just a script to mount a windows share and copy the files to a driver on the linux box. I only use the tape backup as a last resort.

This script work without any errors when run from the command line (only fails when run as a cron task)
