We have a wierd printer problem also. Sometime overnight, every night, all our printers spit out a CUPS Printer Test Page. We have scoured all cron files, checked all print queues, and examined everything else we can think of - to no avail.

Obviously it's something in /etc/cron.hourly/ that's doing it. Run every one of the scripts you see there until you find one that spits stuff out of the printer. Also, look in /etc/cron.d/ as one of those may be configured to run hourly.
