Sure, having the sources installed isn't necessary unless you want to compile your own kernel or want to peek :). But some packages may want the kernel headers installed to compile. Luckily, the kernel headers can be installed separately from the rest of the kernel source (kernel headers go under /usr/include/linux by way of a symlink usually). > JG
