there's a lot of good info on the postfix site, but it's pretty well tuned out of the box. It will usually kick mail out as fast as the disks can spin -- you can check how it's doing with postqueue -p though. vmstat is another useful command to see if your disk is being a bottleneck; better make sure DMA is enabled in /etc/sysconfig/harddisks. The most likely culprit is Mailman and Python, and memory is the quickest and easiest fix. I'd run top in a terminal, then sit and watch it until a mailman cron job kicks off -- then look at CPU & memory swapping. -- Jack Coates Monkeynoodle: A Scientific Venture...
