Steven, Still you might consider a more permanent backup (CD's) in that it sounds like a lot of your data is either impossible or dang difficult to replace. Of course this can be done at any time after you get done with your immediate needs. Other thing... cp the data don't move it. Why.. because if anything gets munged in the transfer you still have the original to replace it. Then once you are 100% satisfied you can destroy the original.. Same with bringing it back.
