Whats puzzling (extremely!) Is that I had reinstalled (fresh) then ran 
"updatedb" ->first<- before doing anything else.

Happened from from the very first reboot after installation. Not much chance 
of damage done there, eh?

I do know that "slocate -u" and "updatedb" do the same thing, AFAIK.
