I just plugged mine in and it was detected automatically. I'm using 9.1 with a stock kernel and devfsd and supermount both enabled (not sure it would make a difference, though). It ended up adding a desktop icon to KDE, like the CD-ROM icon plus I could access it manually from /mnt/removable. My fstab was updated automatically by the system and recognized the USB key as a SCSI drive.
