        Ooops forgot to mention,  I don't doubt the kernel problem... I'm just
curious as to conditions... maybe, just maybe, my dumb luck will hold
out and I will ask the right question that gives someone with
intelligence an idea. *grin*  I'm wondering if maybe something in the
codepages got hosed.  Since it does seem to be a error that could be in
this area.
