The directory of kernel headers (version 2.4.21-0.13mdkcustom) does not match
your running kernel (version 2.4.21-0.13mdksmp). Even if the module were to
compile successfully, it would not load into the running kernel.
Any more suggestions?

Just go to your kernel source tree (/usr/src/linux) and do:
#make mrproper #cp arch/i386/defconfig-smp .config #make oldconfig dep
and then rerun your vmware-config.pl ...
