It is forecast that the UK will have considerable power outages this winter, so I'm trying to get my ancient APC Backups to autoshutdown, in case I'm not around to catch it. Up to now it has just held the system going long enough for me to shutdown, but that's too risky if power cuts can be any time.
So - I've installed apcupsd. I've gone through the conf file, and checked what I can, but the serial cable I had supplied with this unit doesn't indicate type at all. The documentation says that you can run apctest to check it. I can't find apctest, and it doesn't appear on either my installed list or installable list. I know that some of you run apcupsd, so do you have the test program, and if so, how did you find it? Anne
