One question do you get any error messages related to the mouse in either /var/log/messages or /var/log/XFree86.0.log or perhaps dmesg. Reason I'm asking is that I've one box at my old office. Asus p/5 mobo with a k-6500 that under SuSE 8.1 did not under any circumstance want to recognize the mouse after install. (problem was solved by installing another version, cowards way out.) But it kept complaining that it couldn't find the dev for the mouse. Turns out that it was assigning the wrong dev. If I remember right SuSE wanted to use /dev/mouse but this was assigning /dev/psaux. Been awhile but check the logs and this might lead you to the right road. James > >
